The Wombats - Moving to New york

Moving to new york video by the Wombats uses many different conventions including narrative and performance. The Wombats being very much Indie pop group, like to focus and draw the attention of the audience to their talent, therefore many shots in the video are of them playing there instruments, which makes it a very sucsesful performance video. The lyrics in the song go very well with the video for example they sing " I put one foot forward, and ended up thirty yards back" which they show in the video by amplifing it and not making it compleatly literal. Voyeurism and wating is used alot in many parts during the video. They show people watching the perfromance its self with in the video, which draws the adience in. The use of close ups in the video help to sell the artist and premot his style which is Indie. Using things like central framing and change of costume changes between help more to sell the artists albums. The editing in the video is very good it constantly changes between the narrative and perfromance, which always keeps the viewer watching. As the song speeds up and changes to the courus the editing inturn gets quicker from shot to shot. The use of the hamster growing to become a huge hamster makes it very unusal and serreal which i think helks the video.
