She's An Eyeful In The Alley- Video Review
With this video, created by some students for there music video follows many of the traditional conventions of a music video. There is a strong sense of performance and as well as inter cutting the performance with narrative, it is also happening around the performance. The shots are very well cut with the beat and the change in tempo is reflected well with the pace of the action. The shots used also maximize the amount of people that are available to create the audience, the use of close-up and low angle shots creates the illusion of more people. I think the main thing that makes this video a success is the lighting used, the empty car park with the bright street lamps contrasts brilliantly with the pitch black of the sky. Also the lighting used when the crowd is dance, achieved probably with just a torch is really effective in creating a sense of movement when they are dancing. The performances were on the whole good, the crowd worked well and the band also performed well, engaging the audience well. However the lip syncing was not too clear and hard to decipher due to not enough movement. However on the whole a very professional looking video that really capitalizes on available equipment.
